Interior Design II
During this class we worked on a semester long project designing the Saffer Home.

The Saffer Home
The Saffer family was in need of a home renovation to accommodate their families busy lifestyle and growth. They want a home that will be durable and long lasting to allow aging in place. The Saffer's wanted an open concept layout with lots of storage within the kitchen. Areas for homework and lots of sunlight was also requested. Along with all of this an overall contemporary design style was requested.
Phase I: Concept Statement & Mood Board
A mood board was created to set a tone and aesthetic for the house. The concept statement was added to give an outline of goals, problems, and desired outcomes.
Concept Statement
When entering the Saffer home one is immersed in a loving home filled with laughter and joy. A home never still from chaos as people and dog's swarm. Conversation flows all around making countless memories and opening door of opportunity. Full of refreshing sunlight and warm scents of freshly baked cookies and homecooked meals encapsulate the rooms of the house every afternoon. A place of comfort regardless of constant chaos, the Saffer home is a homey inviting home which grows with the family and allows growth within the family.

Phase II: Schematic Design Phase

During this phase I created an assortment of diagrams and charts to brainstorm and sort the first planning out to refine a layout.

Phase III: Preliminary Plans
The Preliminary plan was created from the blocking plan. This plan included doors, cabinetry, windows, appliances, room labels, plumbing, etc. This specific plan was modified many times before making it to the final, refined plans.

Phase III: Refined Plans
The refined floor plan was a formal draft of my preliminarily plan corrected and finalized. I used AutoCAD to draft my refined pan.
Phase IV: House Model
I created a model of my floor plan by using the refined floor plan and the accurately crafting a 3-D model with balsa wood including windows, doors, wall, and cabinetry to be accurate depiction of the home.

Phase V: Furniture, Fixtures, & Equipment
The FF&E board that I created showed the materials, fixtures, fabrics, and furniture that I planned to use within the interior design of the Saffer home. This included key samples and swatches. I tried to organize the swatches, furniture and samples by room to create an easily understandable FF&E board so that the client could easily navigate without difficulty.

From day to night, the Saffer’s need a home that suits the family’s growing needs and desires. To make this home grow with the Saffer’s the design is intended to take advantage of the clean slate provided to make a space that will accommodate for years to come. Group Lighting Project
This group project we were given a layout of a home to design the RCP. I created the RCP and then the other group members created the lighting schedule and assembled the poster.
